Speaker Bio:
He holds an MSc and a PhD in Communication Systems from Lancaster University, UK, and a BEng in Electrical Engineering from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria. From 2005 to 2012, he served as a Research Associate and Senior Research Associate in the School of Computing and Communications at Lancaster University, contributing to several major projects, including acting as Work Package Leader on a successful EU FP7 Smart Grid initiative.
Professor Adebisi’s research focuses on integrating sensing, communication, control, and data analytics into critical infrastructure systems, including energy, transportation, building, and water networks.
He has played a leading role in numerous multi-partner, multi-country projects worth over £45 million, funded by governments, international agencies, and the private sector. Notably, between 2015 and 2022, he was a Senior Investigator on Triangulum, a €29M EU Horizon 2020 flagship smart cities project that established one of Europe’s largest low-carbon districts. He was also a co-Investigator of CityVerve, a £10M UK smart cities project exploring big data analytics for energy, transport, and health. Other projects include EPSRC/TSB Microgrid for Energy Management (£700K), EPSRC UK-Korea Peer-to-Peer Energy Trading (£1M), BEIS UK-Canada Energy IQ (£2.7M), and NIceEnergi (£600K), a UK-Nigeria partnership for sustainable energy systems for a community in Abuja. In 2023, he commenced a four-year EU H2020 project with 14 partners across Europe and Africa to develop advanced wireless communication and AI solutions for rural applications.
